About Centre for Extended Legal Studies (CELS)

The Centre for Extended Legal Studies (CELS), established on 1 January 2018, is the Self-Funded Teaching Programmes Unit of the School of Law. Its principal aim is to provide mature-aged students, typically working professionals, with an opportunity to enhance their employment prospects by obtaining a law degree, or specialising in a limited area of law.

The School of Law offers three (3) programmes geared towards mature, working individuals seeking to further their studies afterhours. These programmes are managed in the Centre for Extended Legal Studies (CELS). Its principal aim is to provide mature-aged students, typically working professionals, with an opportunity to enhance their knowledge and employment prospects by obtaining a law degree, or specialising in a limited area of law. The Centre for Extended Legal Studies (CELS) currently administers three programmes on behalf of the School of Law, namely the Part-time LLB Programme (PT LLB), the Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Relations (PDIR) and the Postgraduate Diploma in Forensic Investigation and Criminal Justice (PDFICJ).
