Academic in the School of Law, Dr Donrich Thaldar, and PhD student, Mr Bonginkosi Shozi, represented South Africa and the University at a medical law conference hosted by the prestigious Stanford Law School in California.

This conference was attended by some of the leading experts in this field of law, including representatives from top law schools in the United States, Canada and Europe. Both Dr Thaldar and Mr Shozi presented papers, which focused on unique South African perspectives on prominent global legal issues. Their participation signifies the high regard accorded to UKZN’s School of Law.

This conference was a very important experience for Mr Shozi, who remarked: ‘This has been a life changing experience, partially because it was the first time I left the country, but mainly because I was exposed to an amazing environment at a top law school, surrounded by so many brilliant minds. I learned a lot.’

Thaldar and Shozi are both members of UKZN’s African Health Research Flagship – an interdisciplinary project that focuses on precision public health.
