Hard work, academic perseverance and unwavering dedication earned Law student, Ms Serisha Sadayen, a prestigious Malegapuru W. Makgoba Scholarship.

Winning the scholarship, awarded to the five top-ranked undergraduates proceeding from first to second year in the four Colleges, is a huge achievement for the third year Bachelor of Law’s (LLB) student.

“Beyond the financial support the scholarship provides, being recognised as a top student is deeply meaningful,” said Sadayen.

“This is a proud, full-circle moment that shows all the late nights and sacrifices I put into my studies have paid off. It also gives me even greater motivation to keep pushing myself and to continue striving for excellence in the next chapter of my academic journey,” she said.

Driven by academic excellence, Sadayen completed a winter vacation programme at Maisels Chambers in Sandton in June.

“Receiving this scholarship along with completing the programme at Maisels Chambers has been the most rewarding part of my academic journey so far. These invaluable experiences are a reflection of the effort I’ve invested in my studies and I’m hoping they open the door to even more opportunities in the future,” she said.

Looking ahead, Sadayen is keen on getting involved in commercial law, succession law as well as property and conveyancing.

Said Sadayen: “I chose Law because it’s such a dynamic field, offering diverse opportunities that I believe are well-suited to my skills and personality. I’ve always been someone who thrives on problem-solving challenges. Beyond that, I wanted to be part of a profession where I could play an active role in contributing to society in a meaningful way.”
