Overview

The Master’s in Constitutional Theory, Law and Litigation programme provides an advanced and in-depth examination of the theoretical foundations, legal framework and practical application of South Africa’s system of constitutional law. The programme covers key areas of South African constitutional law, such as constitutional supremacy, the rule of law, the separation of powers, multi-party democracy, co-operative government, human rights and judicial review.

Entry Requirement

An LLB degree with a minimum overall average of 55%.

Students who successfully complete the Master’s in Constitutional Theory, Law and Litigation will acquire a deeper understanding of the principles and values on which South Africa’s system of constitutional democracy is based, as well as their historical development, philosophical foundations and application in practice. In addition, students will also acquire specialised knowledge in specific aspects of constitutional law such as the rule of law, separation of powers, multi-party democracy, co-operative government, human rights and judicial review.   • If your application is successful, you will receive a letter of acceptance with documents that you need to complete and return to the Programme administrator.
