Ms Tooohey, is currently serving as a part-time lecturer at UKZN and Consultant Legal-Policy Advisor. She has acquired a broad skillset from her 16 years of working in health research –related funding environment. Ms Toohey has conducted research and published on the legal framework concerning adolescent sexual and reproductive health, child participation in health research and a review of the South Africa law/policy framework on adolescent access to HIV prevention interventions. She is currently reading for her PhD, by publication on the regulatory framework for adolescent access to HIV prevention interventions. She has also been involved in the development of resources in legal/policy challenges in international health research partnerships. This is in line with her main interests, which is on looking for solutions on the ethical-legal and policy issues concerning governance of collaborative international health research and innovation, which serves to benefit the research communities, universities and the public in equitable collaborations with global funders.
