Biography

Ms Sandhiya Singh is a lecturer in the fields of International Humanitarian Law and International Criminal Law at the School of Law. She holds a Baccureus Procurationis (B.Proc) degree, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Master of Laws (LLM) from the former University of Durban Westville. Singh was the first recipient of the European Union- South Africa Scholarship to attend a University of San Diego’s programme on International Human Rights and Comparative Criminal Justice which was held at Trinity College, Dublin.

She serves on the editorial board of the African Yearbook on International Humanitarian Law and has published in the fields of International Human Rights Law and International Criminal Law. She has delivered seminars on behalf of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and served as a judge in the Jean Pictet International Humanitarian Law Moot Competition. Singh was appointed as the Proctor of the University of Durban-Westville and, subsequently, of the University of KwaZulu-Natal, for a period of seven years.
