Bio:
Lerato Rudolph Ngwenyama is a Lecturer in the Department of Business Law and lectures Aspects of Law (Property), Foundations of South African Law (Property) and Security & Insolvency (Insolvency). Ngwenyama holds the degrees Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Venda, Master of Laws (LLM) in Commercial Law by coursework from the University of Johannesburg and a Doctor of Laws (LLD) in Public Law from Stellenbosch University. The title of his doctoral dissertation was “A Common Standard of Habitability? A Comparison between Tenants, Usufructuaries and Occupiers in South African Law”. Ngwenyama was supervised by Prof Zsa-Zsa Boggenpoel, holder of the South African Research Chair in Property Law (SARCPL) at Stellenbosch University. During the third and final year of his LLB studies (2013-2014), Ngwenyama was appointed as an academic assistant and tutor in the Department of Mercantile Law at the University of Venda School of Law. In 2017, Ngwenyama was appointed as a candidate attorney at Mpho Mashiloane Attorneys. While writing his LLD dissertation (2018-2020), Ngwenyama was a research assistant at the SARCPL under Prof Zsa-Zsa Boggenpoel at Stellenbosch University. After completing his doctorate in 2020, he spent six months as a post-doctoral research fellow of the SARCPL and served as a consultant at the Stellenbosch University Law Clinic (2021). In July 2021, he joined the Department of Business Law at the University of KwaZulu-Natal as a Lecturer.
